When worship feels difficult

John 16:33

Jesus never promised a trouble-free life, but He has overcome the world.

When worship feels difficult. There is usually more happening here than the obvious problem. There is a difference between acknowledging reality and surrendering your identity to it. One is wisdom. The other is captivity. Christian faith is not confidence in your own ability to stay strong. It is trust in Jesus Christ, crucified and risen, when your feelings are inconsistent. Bring the real problem to Jesus Christ, not the polished version. He already knows what is underneath.

Jesus, I do not want an old pattern making today's decision for me. Renew my mind, steady my emotions, and lead me in truth. You are Lord here too. Amen.
